Oracle VM VirtualBox
Oracle VM VirtualBox enables users to run practically any operating system on a single machine and freely swap between OS instances running concurrently. The application is a comprehensive virtualizer for x86 and AMD64/Intel64 hardware, aimed at server, desktop, and embedded applications. Not only is Virtual Box a feature-rich, high-performance offering for enterprise customers, but it is also the only professional solution that is free to use as Open Source Software. You can even run macOS on Windows for free using VirtualBox today!
Some of the new features of Oracle VM VirtualBox include:
Paravirtualization support for current Windows and Linux guests.
It can expose a paravirtualization interface, which allows for more accurate and efficient software execution. Once the virtual machine platform has been defined, Oracle VM VirtualBox increases guest OS performance by utilizing built-in virtualization features.
xHCI controller will support USB 3.0 devices.
Guest operating systems can now natively identify USB 3.0 devices and run at full 3.0 speeds. Guests can now be set to use USB 1.1, 2.0, or 3.0 devices.
Improved Drag & Drop support.
Beginning with Oracle VM Virtual Box, the support for bi-directional drag and drop between the guest and host operating systems was improved; drag and drop capability is now accessible with the most recent guest enhancements loaded.
Disk image encryption
Oracle VM Virtual Box supports encrypted virtual disk images using the AES algorithm in XTS mode (128-bit or 256-bit); because the DEK is stored in the virtual machine configuration file, encryption adds a security feature that prompts the user for a password when the virtual machine boots up.
Headless and detachable start choices
It now allows you to launch virtual machines in the background using a separate front-end process that can be closed while the virtual machine is running.
Note: To expand VirtualBox's capabilities, download and install the VirtualBox Extension Pack.
