Meshmixer is a powerful 3D modeling and printing software that allows users to generate and edit brand new 3D meshes in minutes. MeshMixer is optimized for speed and efficiency, allowing users to swiftly construct any 3D model they can conceive by editing or mixing innumerable free meshes available on the internet, producing brand new models in minutes.

Fusion now includes many of the fantastic features they've come to appreciate in Meshmixer, with more growth and mesh capabilities coming shortly. While there are no current plans to retire the app, please be aware that it is no longer in development and will not be supported by Autodesk in the future.

One of the app's major advantages is that it is geared toward users who do not have much experience with CAD editors and other 3D modeling enthusiast software. It offers a streamlined collection of features that are especially handy for users who want to combine various 3D meshes to make a completely new project.

Of course, the program also has a variety of capabilities for more advanced users. It fully supports mesh files such as.stl and.obj and includes a variety of tools for preparing meshes for 3D printing. Some of the best-developed tools in this editor include auto-repairing and mending holes in models, hollowing models for simpler printing, making escape holes, stability and thickness analysis, transforming mesh shells into solid objects, and many more.

Installation

The utility comes in a compact installer package that may be used by users of all skill levels. After installation on PCs with a minimum system requirement of 4GB of RAM and Windows 7, the software can be launched.

Autodesk Mesh Mixer's main UI is comparable to many other 3D editing programs. The majority of the app window is dedicated to the 3D canvas area, which depicts loaded objects in high detail. A control bar on the left side of the app window allows you to access the primary tools, which are represented by huge and eye-catching symbols.

The icons are: Import, Meshmix, Select, Sculpt, Spamp, Edit, Analysis, Shaders, Export, and Print. Each selected icon opens a tiny pop-up window containing a wide range of particular tools, buttons, sliders, and dropdown options. For example, the Analysis suite, which may be used to finalize your models for 3D printing, includes tools such as Inspector, Unit measurement, Thickness, Strength, Stability, Orientation, Layouts, Overhangs, and Slicing.

Highlights

  • Mesh Editing: It includes a wide range of mesh-editing tools, such as sculpting, smoothing, and remeshing.
  • Mesh Analysis: Users can examine and scrutinize meshes for problems such non-manifold geometry, holes, and intersecting surfaces.
  • The app excels in preparing models for 3D printing, with features for generating supports, hollowing out models, and optimizing mesh density. It also offers Mesh Mixing, which allows users to combine multiple meshes into a single object for creative design freedom.
  • Pattern Generation: It provides tools for creating sophisticated patterns and structures directly on 3D models, which are great for ornamental elements or complex designs.

User Interface

It has a user-friendly interface and a customisable layout. The primary workspace is divided into panels for easy access to tools and settings, and the toolbar allows you to quickly access frequently used tasks. The interface is straightforward, making it appropriate for users of all ability levels.

How To Use

  • Import a model. Begin by importing a 3D model into the software via the File menu or the drag-and-drop feature.
  • Edit the Mesh: Use the various editing tools to shape, change, and enhance the mesh as needed.
  • Prepare for 3D Printing: When preparing for 3D printing, check the mesh for problems and use the right tools to optimize it for printing.
  • Export the model. Once you're happy with the changes, export the model in the selected file format for future use or 3D printing.
