PDF stands for Portable Document Format, which was developed by Adobe to facilitate document interchange. doPDF is a free PDF creator that does exactly what the name implies: makes PDF files. Once installed, it will allow you to convert any printable document to PDF format. doPDF installs itself as a virtual PDF printer driver, and after a successful installation, it will appear in both the Printers and Faxes and All Programs lists. The pdf generator allows you to convert to PDF in two ways:

1. Print to PDF using the virtual printer driver doPDF.
This is the same as printing to a conventional printer, except the output is a PDF file rather than a printed piece of paper.

2. Accessing the doPDF startup window
The software includes an executable file (available via the start program group) that can be run to launch a conversion wizard.

Features and Highlights

Predefined page size
You can select a specified page size for the generated PDF file, such as A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, B4/5, Letter, Legal, Executive, Envelope DL/C5/B5/Monarch/#10, ANSI, ARCH (50 distinct formats available).

PDF Output Presets
You can create high-quality PDF files (for printing) or smaller ones (for web posting), depending on your requirements. You can also balance the two options by selecting the medium quality preset.

Automatic updates
We always advocate utilizing the most recent version of the PDF utility, and its built-in automatic update mechanism will keep your version current. Update checks can be set on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, however this capability can also be disabled.

Graphic Scale
The content of the generated PDF can be reduced to 1% of its original size or increased up to 400%.

Add-In for Microsoft Office
During the installation process, you can install the novaPDF add-in for Microsoft Office. This enables the program to provide one-click PDF conversion from Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Visio).

PDF Links and Bookmarks (Office-only)
When you convert PDFs with the Microsoft Office add-in, you can include bookmarks and links from the source document in the final PDF version.

Always utilize this folder
You can instruct doPDF to create and store the PDF file to the same location every time, regardless of where you open the original document.

Embed font subsets
To ensure that the final PDF file looks exactly as it was intended, do PDF embeds the font subsets used in the source document.

Open using a PDF viewer
After the PDF is converted, you can select to open it using the default PDF viewer.
