UltraEdit 2024 is a powerful text and code editor created by IDM Computer Solutions. It is commonly used by developers, programmers, system administrators, and power users to edit many types of text files, source code, and computer languages.

Overview

An industry award-winning program, it features a free trial period that allows customers to test the complete working application before purchasing a license. The text editing tools of UltraEdit make editing lists and columns a more straightforward experience than it was previously. With capabilities like multi-caret editing, column/block editing, and multi-select, it can be a simple text editor when you want it to be, and a multi-cursor power editor when you need it.

The work environment is unique to each individual. And with UltraEdit's highly customizable new menuing system, you can create the ideal in-app menu. The brand-new menu lets you choose between a full ribbon, a small ribbon, and a menu/toolbar system, all with just the buttons you choose. Whether it's in the file you're currently working on or another file in your project, the application will assist you in finding what you need.

Run a basic search, or provide us with the longest regular expression you've ever created. Powerful regex search, along with extensive filters and search options that are available when needed, results in a genuinely powerful search experience.

The software includes an integrated FTP browser with syntax highlighting for hundreds of languages, with more in the pipeline. The program is also equipped with an integrated SSH/telnet client, scripting, custom tools, macros, and Smart Templates, making it suitable for any coding session. Do you find yourself trying to edit big files? Ultra Edit would not only be capable of the task but would outperform others. Need to execute a find and replace on a huge data file? - It makes large-file editing possible again.

Features & Highlights

Themes
Choose one of the main themes or experiment with gorgeous user-contributed themes to customize the tool's appearance. Take it a step further by altering or designing a new theme from scratch, and then share it with the rest of the community.

Multi-caret/multi-select
It has the most powerful and user-friendly multi-caret editing and selection capabilities in the business. Once your cursors or selections are in the desired position, you can copy, cut, paste, select, and delete as usual.

Search
It will find whatever it can look for. But "search" is almost the incorrect term. This isn't searching when you can use regular expressions, search across files, discover a needle in a 4GB haystack, or just find the term you're looking for quickly. This demonstrates omniscience.

Column Mode.
When horizontal editing isn't enough, Column Mode comes in handy. Use Column Mode to make intuitive edits along the Y-axis anywhere in your document. It's simply one of the many sophisticated features that allow you to alter tabular data or code files.

Integrated FTP, SSH, and Telnet
Whether you need to make fast changes to a file on a server or transfer a large codebase, Ultra Edit's integrated FTP and SSH/Telnet capabilities make it simple to work with remote files and interface with servers from a single, powerful application.

Customizable UI
This menu system has been overhauled from the ground up, making it more flexible than ever. A highly configurable new menu can be built out however you like. Set up Ribbon mode for a familiar appearance and feel. Or perhaps you prefer a minimalist toolbar with only the most often-used options. The options are limitless.

Edit big files.
The editor is designed to handle big files that might cause other text editors to crash. This tool is extremely popular among database administrators and those who work with massive log files.

4K UHD support.
It looks fantastic on Retina and other ultra-high-resolution devices. If you haven't updated yet, don't worry. It will be ready when you arrive.

Multi-platform
“Ultra Edit is available on Windows, Mac, and Linux.” As of now, we only have Windows version!
