UltraDefrag 32bit is a powerful Open Source defragmentation tool for the Windows platform. It may defragment all system files, including registry hives and paging files. One of UltraDefrag's key goals is to do the work as quickly and reliably as feasible.

When files are made up of many little fragments dispersed throughout the disk, the computer must perform more mechanical labor to read them. As a result, disk access gets slower.

The utility reduces file fragmentation, resulting in speedier disk operations. In addition, the tool may optimize an entire disk by grouping small files together and sorting them by path (or other criteria). After disk optimization, less mechanical labor is required to read groups of small files. This decreases startup times for many apps, including web and photo browsers.

Unlike most other disk defragmenters, this software may defragment locked data while Windows boots. Actually, any file, including page and hibernation files, can be defragmented there. Ultra Defrag aspires to be quick, simple, dependable, and efficient.

UltraDefrag has the following features:

  • System file defragmentation (page files, hibernation files, etc.)
  • MFT (Master File Table) defragmentation
  • NTFS metafile defragmentation
  • Ultra-fast NTFS analysis
  • Optimize your drive using a fast defragmentation technique and several optimization strategies.
  • Safety, it can never harm processed files.
  • Simplicity: it can be used without reading the manual.
  • The ability to defragment individual files/directories from the context menu of Explorer
  • Ability to defragment additional streams tied to NTFS files.
  • The ability to exclude any uninteresting files using customizable filters.
  • Ability to defragment files with more pieces than a threshold
  • Defragmentation can be stopped automatically after a set time interval or performed only when the disk fragmentation level exceeds a certain threshold.
  • Ability to pick several drives for defragmentation.
  • Easily understandable HTML reports
  • Powerful command-line interface.
  • Ability to automatically hibernate/shutdown the PC after a work is completed.
  • Ability to perform automatic effective defragmentation using Windows Task Scheduler
  • Multilingual graphical interface.
  • Little binaries (about 1 Mb)
  • There is a portable version available that does not require installation.
  • Native 64-bit support.
  • Open source code licensed under the GPL

PROS
