Microsoft PowerToys is a system utility that allows all Windows 10 and Windows 11 users to access a variety of additional features. This latest version of system shell configuration abilities, which was first made available to Windows 95 users more than two decades ago, is especially useful for users who want to fully utilize the Windows 10/11 OS environment and gain access to numerous tweaks, shortcuts, and abilities that are not natively supported by this versatile operating system.

Even customers who have never heard of the PowerToys app are frequently amazed by the countless modifications, shortcuts, and benefits available in the tool's three fundamental sections: FancyZones, PowerRename, and Shortcut Guide.

FancyZones is a powerful desktop utility that can create unique zones into which current app windows can snap. The default Windows support for this feature includes automatic full-screen resizing and app snapping to the left or right half of the screen. FancyZones allows users to substantially increase the grid of snappable zones and even design their own entirely customizable grids. This functionality is especially useful for users whose everyday tasks need them to work with a large number of active windows of various sizes. Once Grid is created, windows can be snapped to it by pressing the Ctrl+Shift keys while moving the app window.

PowerRename is a Windows Shell unlock that grants access to the bulk rename tool. Once activated, users can access it using File Explorer's usual Search and Replace function. This application is extremely beneficial for those who manage dozens or hundreds of files in File Explorer and need to properly rename them before saving or using them.

Shortcut Guide is a basic but very handy overlay that displays all of the Windows key shortcuts that users can use. To activate it, users simply need to hold the Windows button for a short period of time.

Once configured, Microsoft PowerToys must be maintained running in order to benefit from its beneficial background services. The app can start on boot and operate with administrator capabilities.
