GPU Caps Viewer is a complete benchmarking, diagnostic, and monitoring application designed to determine the present health of a GPU card in any modern PC. With this app installed on their PC, users of all skill levels can easily find out exact details about their current GPU (for the majority of users, this will be either a single GPU or a combination of integrated and discrete GPU cards), including the exact model number, BIOS version, size of VRAM memory, device ID, current operating clocks, fan speed, installed driver version, API support, and much more. In addition to the general diagnostic listings, the app allows users to conduct in-depth examinations of supported APIs and hardware-accelerated services (OpenGL, CUDA, Open CL, Vulkan), as well as 3D demo benchmarks to determine the current performance level of their video rendering hardware.

GPU Caps Viewer is available online in a simple installation package that installs in seconds on any PC. The program includes a quick and easy installer that requires the user to follow only a few simple on-screen instructions. Once the app is up and running, users will be able to see all of the available options for easy use. The software consists of a single small window with seven primary tabs: GPU, OpenGL, CUDA, OpenCL, Vulkan, 3D Demos, and Tools.

Each of these tabs allows users to view extensive information about their GPUs. It is worth noting that if the user has more than one GPU installed on their PC, the currently active diagnostic data can be adjusted at the top of the first 'GPU' tab. Regardless of which page is selected, the bottom of the tab contains shortcuts for evaluating video cards using a number of built-in rendering tests. These tests can be tailored to your specific hardware, with settings for rendering resolution and Multisampling anti-aliasing. These demos can not only put a burden on your GPU, allowing people to readily compare one GPU to another, but they can also test whether the GPU is performing its function appropriately. If the GPU is bottlenecked due to a software or hardware flaw, these tests will assist users in troubleshooting.

The GPU Caps Viewer program may save all diagnostic and testing data to a local file in either TXT or XML format. Additionally, the data may be posted to Geeks3D's web servers, where it can be compared to the performance of other PCs and readily examined later.

GPU Caps Viewer is a powerful GPU diagnostic tool that can be used by both new and experienced GPU users. The program is completely free and works on all older Windows operating systems, including Windows XP and beyond.

Features and Highlights

  • A brief overview of the graphics configuration (graphics card / GPU type, quantity of video memory, driver version)
  • The display displays the key OpenGL features (OpenGL version, texture size, texture unit count, etc.)
  • Display the OpenGL extensions supported by your graphics card, or display all existing OpenGL extensions regardless of the graphics card. You can see each extension's description page via the OpenGL extension registry or
  • Nvidia's OpenGL extensions specification. Very useful for graphics developers!
  • Display the system configuration: CPU type and speed, system memory size, and operating system
  • GPU burner: allows you to increase the GPU temperature in order to test the graphics card's stability. You can actually open as many 3D views as you wish to make your graphics card perform to its full potential. For NVidia
  • cards, the GPU temperature is also shown.
  • A list of websites relevant to your graphics card, including graphics drivers and reviews. These links are regularly updated.
  • Complete the report in text and XML format. This type of report is important for developers who require an overview of the customer graphics system (for support, for example).
