EMCO Ping Monitor is a powerful ping monitoring tool that automatically checks connections to network hosts. It monitors network connections and alerts you of any identified ups/downs via regular pings. It also gives connection information such as uptime, outages, and failed pings. When connections are lost or restored, you may simply enhance functionality by using The Ping Monitor to run custom commands or launch programs.

What is the EMCO Ping Monitor?

It can monitor the status of one or more hosts' connections 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The application examines ping responses to detect network disruptions and generates connection statistics. It can detect connection disruptions, display Windows Tray balloons, play sounds, and send email messages. It can also generate reports and distribute them via email or store them in PDF or HTML formats.

The program allows you to obtain information about the status of all hosts, view detailed data for a specific host, and compare the performance of several hosts. The program stores the collected ping data in a database, allowing you to view statistics for a certain time period. The supplied information comprises the minimum, maximum, and average ping times, as well as a list of connection outages. This data can be represented using grids and charts.

How does this work?

The application can monitor ping traffic from a few to thousands of hosts. All hosts are watched in real time by dedicated working threads, allowing you to receive real-time statistics and notifications when the connection state changes for each host. The application has no specific hardware requirements; you can monitor a few thousand hosts on a standard current PC.

The application detects connection disruptions by sending pings. If a few pings fail in a raw, it will indicate an outage and notify you of the issue. When a connection is established and pings begin to come through, the application detects the end of the outage and alerts you. You can adjust the outage and restore detection conditions, as well as the program's notifications.

Features

FREE EDITION
The Free edition supports ping monitoring of up to 5 hosts. It does not support host-specific configurations. It operates as a Windows program, thus monitoring stops when you quit the UI or log out of Windows.

PROFESSIONAL EDITION
The Professional edition enables for concurrent monitoring of up to 250 hosts. Every host can have a specific configuration, such as email recipient notification or custom actions to be performed when a connection is lost or restored. It operates as a Windows service, so monitoring continues even when you close the UI or log out of Windows.

Enterprise Edition
The Enterprise edition has no limit on the number of monitored hosts. Depending on the hardware setup, a modern PC can monitor up to 2500+ hosts.

This edition includes all of the available features and operates as a client/server. The server runs as a Windows service to monitor pings around the clock. The client is a Windows program that connects to a server running on a local PC or to a remote server via LAN or Internet. Multiple clients can connect to the same server and work simultaneously. This edition now contains web reports, which allow you to see host monitoring statistics remotely using a web browser.

Features & Highlights

Multi-Host Ping Monitoring
The application may monitor many hosts at once. The Free edition of the application allows you to monitor up to five hosts; the Professional edition has no limit on the number of monitored hosts. Every host is monitored independently of the other hosts. A contemporary PC allows you to monitor tens of thousands of hosts.

Connection Outage Detection
To monitor the connection status in the 24/7 mode, the application makes ICMP ping echo queries and analyzes ping echo replies. If the specified number of pings fail in a row, the application identifies a connection outage and alerts you to the issue. The application monitors all outages, allowing you to see when a server was offline.

Connection Quality Analysis
When the application pings a monitored site, it records and aggregates data for each ping, allowing you to obtain information on the lowest, maximum, and average ping response times, as well as the ping response divergence from the average for every reporting period. This allows you to estimate the quality of your network connection.

Flexible notifications
If you want to get notifications for Connection Lost, Connection Restored, and other events detected by the application, you can set the application to send e-mail messages, play noises, and display Windows Tray balloons. The application can deliver a single notification or any number of repeat alerts several times.

Charts and Reports
Charts can visually depict all of the statistical information acquired by the program. You may view ping and uptime statistics for a single host and compare the performance of numerous hosts using charts. The application can generate reports in various formats on a regular basis to display host information.

Custom Actions
You can integrate the program with external software by running external scripts or executable files when a connection is lost or restored, or in response to other circumstances. For example, you can set up the application to execute an external command-line utility that sends SMS notifications whenever the host status changes.

Note: The sample version has limited functionality.
