Earth Alerts is a Windows-based application that allows you to monitor a wide range of natural hazard events occurring all around the world in near real time. Alert messages, reports, and photos allow the user to watch natural phenomena as they occur, whether near to home or in a far-flung corner of the world!

Earth Alerts employs a number of internet resources offered by organizations such as the National Weather Service, U.S. Geological Survey, and Smithsonian Institution (to name a few) to determine what types of activity "Mother Earth" is currently causing on the world.

To utilize Earth Alerts, simply choose the natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, tropical cyclones, wildfires, landslides, severe weather, local weather, etc.) and locations of interest. The application will then automatically retrieve the most recent information from several live data streams available on the Internet and display it to you in a handy format of reports, maps, and photos.

The app has been available to the general public since 2005. During that period, it has undergone several substantial improvements. EarthAlerts has been a (time-consuming) pet project for the past few years, as a pastime, one-man production, and labor of love!

It is important to note that the.NET Framework is required.
