Even in the age of low-cost terabytes, one constant remains: every hard drive will eventually reach capacity. But there is assistance! TreeSize Free reveals you where your valuable disk space has gone.

The freeware can be launched from the context menu of a folder or drive and displays the size of the folder and its subfolders in an Explorer-like interface. The gradient bar in the background makes large folders easy to identify at a glance. All scan results can be explored down to the file level, and filters, such as those for certain file types, can be applied.

It scans network disks and locally synchronized cloud shares (save for Windows servers and domains), just as TreeSize Personal!

The column view provides more specific information about each file and folder. The size or number of files, as well as the latest access date and owner (and other valuable information), are all available here.

The versatile filter feature allows for the breakdown of scan data. You can use the filters, for example, to discover files of a specific type, such as temporary files, text files, or photos, and then use that information to clean up your hard drive.

It works with the MFT (Master File Table) and achieves incredibly fast scan rates. Scanning activities are performed in a thread, so you will notice results practically immediately while TreeSize Free is running in the background. The application supports the Explorer context menu and drag-and-drop actions.

TreeSize Free displays the NTFS compression rate and applies it to directory branches.

As an Administrator, you can use Startup Tree Size Free to calculate the size of any folder, including directories to which you do not have access. Because the contents of the files will not be automatically read during this method, Windows security and data privacy are maintained.
