NoMachine is a free remote desktop solution with numerous amazing capabilities. NoMachine allows you to access all of your files and folders, as well as watch DVDs, TV, and YouTube videos from anywhere. You can watch smooth, high-resolution video and audio from your PC or Mac on any NoMachine-enabled device. The app even works with any USB controller, allowing you to play games remotely. NoMachine 6 has numerous intriguing new features, including a rethink of product families. Here's an overview of some of the most significant improvements in NoMachine 6.0 for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Features and Highlights

Browser-based access to all business goods
Web-based access is no longer limited to Cloud Server. This popular feature is included in all products from the Terminal Server and Cloud Server suites. Remote users connecting from clientless endpoints can now access the desktop environment with any HTML-enabled browser.

New Cloud Server
The choice to include browser-based access in other products enables us to reposition the Cloud Server with a completely new feature set. Cloud Server becomes a connection broker for all other NoMachine servers and foreign hosts, and it is located at the top of the NoMachine product hierarchy within the namesake product suite. It consolidates the whole NoMachine server stack, giving you centralized access to all other servers in the NoMachine network.

Streamlined product families
Linux virtual desktop is now limited to the Linux Terminal Server family, with Enterprise Terminal Server taking the lead, replacing both Enterprise Server and Cloud Server for Linux version 5 for running virtual Linux desktop sessions. Enterprise Terminal Server, like its predecessors, provides load balancing and failover for Terminal Server Nodes, with the added benefit of browser-based access.

Server-to-server
Starting with version 6, the standalone Workstation and Terminal Server products can be used as Cloud Server servers. Customers who used either of these products as nodes in their NoMachine cluster in version 5 or earlier can upgrade to Terminal Server Nodes. Enterprise Desktop continues to enable remote desktop access on Linux, Windows, and Macintosh, as well as operate as a cloud server.

Support for the H.264 codec in WebRTC sessions
More interesting news for those who access to the remote desktop using a web browser. Web-based sessions can be streamed using the server's H.264 encoder, provided that the connecting client's browser supports the codec. The benefits of employing H.264 encoding include lower bandwidth utilization and CPU consumption, which is advantageous for less powerful computers and in areas where network circumstances are not as favorable as predicted.

Automatic reconnection
Great news for NoMachine users who switch between networks at work. When you lose your connection, NoMachine will immediately try to reconnect you. So, whether users switch WIFI networks while working or when the connecting client enters sleep mode, NoMachine handles the reconnection without the need for user intervention.

Easily toggle your desktop's sharing availability
Access to the local desktop and requests to connect can now be prevented for as long as the owner wants, or until the desktop is closed, without having to shut down the NoMachine services completely.

Automatic detection for proxy servers
NoMachine checks whether a Proxy server exists on the local network through which outbound traffic must be tunneled. This is especially beneficial for people connecting from home and has configured a proxy server to screen their IP address, as well as those connected from networks that require a login to obtain access.

Raspberry Support
Raspberry has been officially added to the list of supported platforms. Both the RPi2 and RPi3 devices can function as connected clients as well as pocket-sized servers. Depending on your setup and requirements, you can select NoMachine (free), Enterprise Client (free), or Enterprise Desktop.

Improvements to clustered servers and failover procedures
Using GUIDs to identify failover clusters and simplify the installation of additional servers into a NoMachine server federation simplifies clustered environment setup for administrators. Additionally, primary and secondary roles can be restored based on server connection saturation during failback.

Pre-configured web sessions
Administrators can provide users with pre-configured connection files that allow them to easily connect their desktops and programs to the web. To prevent having to customize the session at each login, you can select session type, screen resolution, display quality, and other parameters ahead of time. This allows administrators to minimize the amount of manual configuration required by end users.
